Sightseeing at Gold Coast, Australia

Cool uncle ready start the tour
This is gonna be my last post on Gold Coast, I promise :)

Last but definitely not the least, we spent some time sightseeing around Surfers Paradise and the nearby areas. Gold Coast offers a large array of tours to choose from, with many of the tour offices located in the mid of Surfers Paradise. We just picked one from the many brochures we collected, gave 'em a call and they'd come fetch us on the planned day. Aside from the tour, we also took the time exploring on our own... by taking the bus and walking around town. Some places not to be missed in Gold Coast...

Q1 Observation Deck

This is the tallest building with 360 degrees view. You can practically see the whole town of Gold Coast. Cool and awesome view! Don't forget to get the copper coins with your choice of landmark. Best cheapest souvenir at AUD1 :)

Captain Cook Memorial and Lighthouse
You all remember the famous Captain Cook? Well, apparently during one of his voyages the crew came close to the reefs he then named as Point Danger. The lighthouse/memorial was built later in the 20th century, and well I guess this is something the Aussies are proud of. The design of the lighthouse was different from the ones we see in the books or on tv.
This place was also the southernmost point of Queensland where it borders New South Wales. We took some commemorative pics at the borderline ;-)

Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary
There were the usual wildlife common to Australia ground like kangaroos, wallabies, koalas, crocodiles and birds. We didn't waste time on those that we've seen before and zoomed straight to those that we met for the first time.

There's a cool gift shop inside the CWS compound. On your way out there'd be another gift shop full of natural produce like macadamian honey, etc. We had fun with the honey tasting!

The beautiful beaches would simply take your breaths away, though the cold currents may not allow for a swim...

The were other places of interest such as the Wax Museum and the Palazzo Versace hotel. We also spent time at the heart of Surfers Paradise where the Hard Rock Cafe, souvenir shops (there's a cheap one run by a Malaysian!), shopping malls and the night scene were.
There was even a halal Malaysian restaurant called Maharani, but we figured we could wait till we get back for the home-cooked fix :P

It was a total blast having a first-hand experience of everything.
