Background: Bagan Lalang is a fishing village situated in Sungai Pelek, Sepang, Selangor Darul Ehsan. It offers magnificent sunset view at the beach on a calm relaxed evening, and fresh local seafood cuisine. Thanks to the opening of the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and the Sepang International Circuit in the recent years, access to Bagan Lalang has since been easier. It is therefore receiving more and more out-of-towners over the weekend or short holidays.
How to get there: The nearest landmark to the beach is Hotel Seri Malaysia Bagan Lalang, hence the choice of map as shown below. Once reaching the hotel, you are not far off to the beach area. There are plenty of signs indicating the directions to the beach or the Sepang Gold Coast. At a minimum, the crowds and many cars parked alongside the small roads will affirm that you are at the right place.

It was almost a year ago, during the Chinese New Year break, that my friends and I had our day trip to Bagan Lalang. The ultimate objective - to view the serene sunset at the beach :)
We started off from Kuala Lumpur in the afternoon and reached the destination at about 4.00 p.m. It was really humid, naturally, considering the time of the day and the location. The area was already full with people and we spent some time looking for a place to park.
The view that awaited us on that hot afternoon was captivating.

After some time, we decided to explore the other side of the beach, the one closer to the Sepang Gold Coast area.
Some chose to camp for the night. Sadly, we still need to work on the cleanliness part. |
Alongside the beach there were many stalls selling food and drinks, candies, mini propellers, floaters, kites, etc.
A side attraction would be the pony ride...strictly for kids, from the look of it :p
Furthermore since it was during the CNY break, the streets were filled with lovely decorations :)
On the quest for a perfect spot, the four of us tirelessly scoured for THE view at several different locations. We first laid down our picnic mat on the beach but it was hot and the view was not too pretty. As we went further and into the Sepang Gold Coast information centre, we noticed a restaurant with the perfect view. Phew, what a relief! We could then relax and wait excitedly for the sunset.

Yes! <^_^> |
The sunset viewing was indeed a worthwhile experience.
Then after we've got what we came for, the hunger pangs crept in. We settled for one of the many seafood restaurants they had there. Most restaurants or stalls would be full so perhaps it is best if you could call earlier for reservations. As for us, we didn't make any and therefore we had to wait for a really long time (read more than 1 hour!) to get our food.
We ended our day trip past midnight. It was a long humid tiring day yet the beautiful sunset view compensated some (if not all) of our weariness. Currently with the ongoing development of the Golden Palm Tree Water Villas at Sepang Gold Coast, we have yet to see whether this would bring out the best of Bagan Lalang or otherwise. Perhaps I'll check on it again sometime soon.
